Lando Norris Tops Piastri in Brazilian Practice
The British driver has outscored his teammate at each of the last five grands prix.
Lando Norris edged out fellow driver and title rival the Australian for the quickest lap in the final moments of the practice session at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
Norris, who seized the points lead from his teammate by one point after winning in the Mexican Grand Prix two weeks ago, topped the Melbourne-born driver by a tiny margin of 0.023secs.
Until that point, Piastri had been the quickest of the McLaren pair for most of the session before the sprint shootout set to begin at the evening session.
The Red Bull star, the sole remaining contender in realistic title contention, sitting with a 36-point deficit Norris, finished in 17th place as his team ran a different programme.
Verstappen's team-mate the Japanese driver was the only driver to go off, if briefly, when he spun at Turn Four during the early running.
Tsunoda lost control over the exit kerbs before rotating through the run-off area, and was blessed to get away with just a slight brush of the wall.
Ferrari's the seven-time champion also spun, at the very end of the session, turning around through the quick descending Mergulho turn approaching the final bend on to the pit straight.
The veteran ended the session in P19, just behind team-mate the Monegasque driver.
Norris and Piastri were significantly quicker of the other competitors, with Nico Hulkenberg's Sauber third fastest, over half a second off Piastri's best.
Aston Martin's Fernando Alonso was fourth fastest, with the Sauber of Bortoleto in front of the Mercedes of George Russell and Alpine's Pierre Gasly and the Williams of Carlos Sainz.
